Gayle Ross, storytellerThis daylong event — New England's only annual Indigenous storytelling festival — features storytelling “concerts” or performances by five experienced Indigenous storytellers.

Additionally, a keynote address by Gayle Ross (Cherokee), will be broadcast by Zoom for virtual attendees. Attendees are invited to attend a “Swapping Grounds” story-sharing session to share a prepared traditional Native American lesson story — or just to listen.

The other featured storytellers are:

  • Anne Jennison (of European & Abenaki heritage)
  • Darlene Kascak (Schaghticoke)
  • HearsCrow (Narragansett storyteller in the Longhouse tradition)
  • Louise Profeit-LeBlanc (Na-Cho Nyak Dun First Nation/Canada)

Free to attend, with a suggested donation of $10. Space is limited and advanced registration is strongly recommended.

* Strawbery Banke Museum has taken on permanent sponsorship of the Dawnland StoryFest and will host it annually in connection with the museum’s permanent “People of the Dawnland” exhibit.
