About Tim Jennings!

Tim Jennings is a legendary Vermont folk storyteller with 40 years of experience, performing all over New England and across North America. His highly engaging style has been featured in such venues as The National Storytelling Festival, Kennedy Library, Nantucket Atheneum, Champlain Festival, Old South Church, Old Songs, Clearwater, Toronto Storytelling Festival, King County (Seattle) Storytelling Festival, with multiple appearances  at Bates College, UVM, U of Maine, Champlain Festival, Vermont Midsummer Festival, and on Vermont Public Television, as well as and hundreds of school shows for all grades, and lots of large and small libraries, theaters, clubs, family reunions etc around Vermont and New England.

In reviewing Tim’s 1981 solo storytelling recording, “Weatherbeard,” Sing Out! magazine wrote, “You cannot resist. From the first word, Tim grabs you by the scruff of your imagination and hurls into his world. He does not make the common mistake of pretending to be a storyteller, he simply *is* one.”

Tim has taught folk storytelling to all ages, from kindergarten to Masters programs. His article, “Storytelling: illiterate tool to Teach Reading” appeared in the slick education magazine, “Learning” in the early 1980s, and has been reprinted many times in many countries. More recently, several of his articles on folktales he collected and developed into performance pieces, with tips on presentation, appeared in “Voices: The Journal of the New York State Folklore Society.”

In the early ‘90s, Tim joined forces with his life and artistic partner, the late
Leanne Ponder. Two of their live-performance storytelling albums were ALA/ALSC Notable Children’s Recordings; another was awarded Silver Honors by Parents Choice. Leanne grew ill, and declined over a decade, the last half of which precluded any performing at all, until her passing three years ago last Christmas Eve.

While semi-retired, Tim continues to tell stories and play music in a quiet way, mostly within an hour’s drive of his home in Montpelier. The cost for the entire day includes:
